FOCUS-LK 2018: Managing the Oceans and Boosting the Blue Economy

A high level seminar on FOCUS-LK 2018: Managing the Oceans and Boosting the Blue Economy was held yesterday, the 17th of May at BCIS from 4:30 p.m to 6:00 p.m with the presence of a number of dignitaries and professional representatives from the government, diplomatic, non-government, private and academic sectors which was followed by a film screening – Chasing Coral.

The highlights of the event included the welcome speech by Dr. Vidanage (BCIS), opening by H.E Mr. Jean-Marin SCHUH (Ambassador of France in Sri Lanka and the Maldives), addresses by Prof. Mohan Munasinghe (MIND) and Mr. Dilhan C. Fernando (Chairman BSL), a presentation of the project proposal by Mr. Nishan Perera, a presentation of a French Success Story by Dr. Pothin (Director of the Marine Wildlife Sanctuary in La Reunion) followed by a signing ceremony.

 

Mr. Chaminda Upul Kumar from Aitken Spence Travels (Pvt.) Ltd., Mr. Dilhan C. Fernando from Biodiversity Sri Lanka, Mr. Charitha Ratwatte from Dialog Axiata PLC, Mr. Asanka Abayakoon from Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC, Ms. Sharika Senanayake from MAS Holdings, Mr. Nicholas Reshan Fernando from TESS (Pvt.) Ltd. and Mr. Salinda Kandapola from Tokyo Cement Company (Lanka) PLC signed the Expression of Interest for the projects initiated by FOCUS-LK at the high level seminar that was held yesterday, 17th May 2018 at BCIS
